The ideas of Renaissance was revolutionary to its Medieval backdrop, and laid the fundamental steps of the Modern intellectual traditions. There is a stark contrast between the Medieval and Renaissance era, especially in terms of ideology. The people in the Medieval times was religious, uneducated peasants while the people of the Renaissance were revolutionary thinkers who stresses individuality, education, and spirit of adventure. Today, we can still see the Renaissance’s ideals in our blood. Education is mandatory for most children in developed countries, individuality is stressed in adulthood in which merits matters to one’s social level, and the spirit of adventure is present in space explorers and pioneers in new industries. Renaissance is the turning point between the Medieval and Modern era, with the transformation of ideologies, worldviews, and intellect. People reexamined the classical Roman and Greek texts, and wrote about actual human experience rather than religious ideologies. In other words, realism was emphasized over religious ideologies. The Renaissance was the gateway of transformation between the Medieval and Modern Era. Thus, the ideas of the Renaissance are considered a departure from the medieval period, and very critical for the development of the modern intellectual tradition.
