Deductive and Inductive Arguments
On Ellipses
Deductive:
Premise: Planets orbit in perfect circle
Conclusion: The Earth orbits the sun in a perfect circle.
Inductive:
Premise: Earth is observed to be farther away from the Sun in certain times of the year
Conclusion: Earth rotates in an ellipse around the sun
Inductive reasoning can be more powerful because its theories are based upon empirical data that are physically proven itself. Unlike inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning is based upon predictions that may often be inaccurate because its theories are not proved. Thus, its theories are just unreasonable guessing.
